Preface

I would be a liar if I was to say that I was not inspired by the work of Young Hae Chang and his hard-hitting visual barrage of flashing words. Though inspired, I was determined to add other elements into this project that were learned in the preceding lectures. With that said, I felt that using plain text, white background, and simple clip art images would be paramount in stressing the poem I wrote through the concept of amplification through simplifacation. Simplicity of words and phrases help to accentuate the mood of my poem. About 16 hours later and 106 self-created images later, I had a fully functioning flashing poem backed with the music of Thievery Corporation. Admittedly, the inspiration for this poem didn’t come in my most sober hour but I really feel like I stayed true to my original goal of telling a story through poem. Additionally, I played around with the text and juxtaposed certain words to add emphasis during certain key points in the poem. This worked really well in my first project and I feel like it worked even better in this one. I wanted to tell a story that was familiar to a lot of us. I also like to apologize in advance if this offends anyone. Enjoy!
